ABOUT

Kia ora/Hello/Dia dhuit!

I'm a New Zealand/British/Irish director and writer and I maintain citizenship in all three countries of my heritage, as well as a keen interest in theatre, film and new writing from around the world. I especially enjoy making work that plays with time, is full of emotion and interested in the land around us.

I graduated LAMDA's MA Directing programme in 2017 and have worked as a freelance writer and director since. I founded Southern Magpie to continue exploring new writing and New Zealand theatre in particular and have subsequently used the company to make work in film.

My work as a director has taken me to London, Bristol, Edinburgh and Oxford in UK right the way to Auckland, Wellington and down to Christchurch and Dunedin in Aotearoa. I've also had the pleasure of being an assistant to  directors including Ria Parry, Rebecca Frecknall and Kate Budgen.

Recently, Southern Magpie's revival of kiwi classic 'Skin Tight' picked up another Offie nomination, whilst the short film 'Our Old Den' has played at festivals worldwide and will be released shortly. I've also spent time both in Aotearoa New Zealand, exploring theatre forms across the country, and in the UK, as a visiting director at Mountview Theatre School and offering movement support to theatre shows, as well as developing my own work for theatre and television.
