Max has worked as a visiting tutor/director at LAMDA and Mountview Theatre School, as well as leading workshops and directing plays for youth theatres and community groups, including assisting with a new adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's The War of Jenkins' Ear with Aquila Youth theatre at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2018.

In 2019, Max was the 'director in residence' at Bedales School in Hampshire.

Max was also scheduled to work as a teaching artist on Auckland Theatre Company's production of The Miracle Worker in Spring 2021 (then the pandemic...)
